Our favorite part about working with Mariah is her genuine and unwavering commitment to supporting the local community around Big Sur. This is undoubtedly the biggest advantage of working with her, as she has spent years cultivating authentic personal and business relationships with so many small business owners and vendors in the area. I share this detail not only to highlight how this will streamline your planning process but to assure you that your celebration will organically be infused with the down-to-earth, warm quality that draws so many of us to Big Sur--a feeling that can easily get lost in the pursuit of a Pinterest-perfect event. When I struggled to find local hair and makeup artists who had the experience and tools to accommodate me as a Black bride, Mariah didn't hesitate to connect me with contacts from her network so I could find a perfect match (Rhonda Johnson). When I was struggling to find a gluten-free cutting cake for our reception, she sent me the information for several local, family-owned gluten-free businesses (Nece's GF). When we were curious about working with a calligrapher, she connected us with her family friend Anna Bouchard. And the list goes on! She made sure that Mike, the owner of Big Sur Bakery, could meet with us during one of our scheduled in-person consults to discuss any questions or concerns we had ahead of our event. She ordered us a copy of the restaurant's published cookbook to use as our guestbook; it is such a unique artifact that is both beautiful and functional. I know it's typical for people to warn couples that something WILL go wrong on their wedding day to manage their expectations, but we truly cannot think of a single thing that didn't go to plan during our celebration, thanks to the stellar coordinating done by Mariah. Our day was stress-free, joy-filled, and EASY. Beyond that, it was incredibly aesthetically gorgeous because all of the vendors were able to show up and bring their absolute best service due to all the coordination with Mariah behind the scenes. It was important to us that we could trust that our vendors would create a vision of Big Sur that captured all of the elements things we love most about the environment without us having to be prescriptive or overly particular about how everything came together. We wanted a low-key wedding in Big Sur on less than two months' notice. Mariah was amazing, easy to work with, responsive and fun! She helped with all of the details we would not have thought of. I feel so grateful to have had Mariah on board planning my wedding. She is so sweet, so creative, so organized, so professional, so calm...the list goes on. She knows of all the best wedding locations, florists, make-up and hair artists, videographers, bakeries, etc in the Big Sur area. My family and I felt so supported by her calm presence on the wedding day. Even though we had to make a last minute ceremony venue switch, Mariah was on top of it and had 3 amazing new venues for us to choose from! Short story- My wife and I got engaged in June of 2016 and decided to get married in Big Sur. This turned out to be a much, much harder undertaking than we could've known- difficulty booking a venue in the first place (due to booked and difficult to deal with venues) and then long heartbreaking delays where we eventually had to reschedule our wedding due to Pfeiffer Canyon Bridge getting damaged by floods in early 2017. Fast forward 22+ months from our engagement and we FINALLY had our Big Sur wedding this last month. Although we had always had very high hopes for getting married in Big Sur (high enough hopes to make the judgment call that it was worth waiting so long for) it was better than we'd ever expected. Our Big Sur wedding simply would NOT have happened, much less been as staggeringly wonderful, if not for the team of Mariah Green (our wedding coordinator), Kendal and Anthony DeLaura (our photographers), and Jeffty Martinez (otherwise known as DJ Jeffty).
For Mariah's part- she was literally the glue that held this whole thing together. Every email, late night call, exasperated sign, stress filled text Mariah responded to with caring, grace, and confidence. She pulled us through every twist turn, change, and difficult decision. At the end of the day there is no way this, or anything we ever write or say to her, will describe how much her kindness has impacted our lives for the better.
I will say this though of her skill as a wedding planner- After our wedding after talking about everything that happened, all the moments leading up to the wedding and the actual wedding itself I asked my wife, 100% seriously- "do you think if we'd spent any more money- if we had all the money in the world and could've spent a million dollars on our wedding- that it would have been ANY better than it was?" and the answer was "no" -Justin, married May 2018
I found Mariah through a combination of Yelp and Wedding Wire. She had great reviews and now I know why! My fiancé and I got married in June in Carmel Valley. I was worried because we weren't getting married at a traditional venue- we were getting married at a house and event of that size had never been done there before.
Mariah was an absolute rockstar and SUCH a pleasure to work with. I could never have done it without her. She brought creativity, expertise and a wonderful personality. Wedding planning can be very stressful but she was such a calming voice during the processs. She had great recommendations, took all my ideas into consideration and made my dream wedding come to life. I even had guests come up to me at the wedding and tell me how amazing she was. Her attention to detail was incredible. There were so many moving pieces, I don't know how she does it! Her mom also worked with her and the two of them were such a great pair.
